dc.description.abstractThe study entitled “Effectiveness of audio-visual aids on mathematics teaching.” was focused to find out the effectiveness of audio-visual aid on mathematics teaching in Kathmandu district. It was also aimed at finding out the challenges while using audio-visual aids in secondary level. To gain the motto of the study the researcher adopted pretest posttest nonequivalent group design. For this study, the population was selected from all the secondary schools of Kathmandu district and mathematics teacher taught that school. All together 39 students from two selected schools of grade X. Two public schools were selected through simple purposive sampling methods; one school as control group and another as experimental group. Researcher taught both school in one month. During one month in experimental group the researcher show 6 videos in three different units. At last researcher take same test to find effectiveness of audio visual aids. The descriptive analysis and interpretation of data obtained from qualitative tools like unstructured questionnaire, interview schedule over mathematics teacher had shown many challenges while using audio-visual aids in mathematics teaching at secondary level. The necessary data were gathered by the achievement test, unstructured questionnaire and interview schedule and analyzed by using statistical tools t-test and by using conceptual framework of this study. Finally, Researcher concluded that the audio visual aids helps the students to understand mathematics in better way and consequently students perform better in achievement over conventional method. The implication of the results of this study is that merely change of the teaching method to got a better achievement.en_US
