The Status of Paddy Production: A Case Study of Saudiyar Village Development Committee of Dang District, Nepal

Abstract

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and was listed as the poorest among 121 countries in 2013 . Various factors contributed to the economic underdevelopment including terrain, lack of resource endowment, landlocked position, lack of institutions for modernization, weak infrastructure, and a lack of policies conducive to development. The present study was conducted in Dang District with especially focus to paddy production in this area. The main objective of the study was to examine the applied paddy production in Saudiyar VDC , to find the total production trade of paddy For this study descriptive and analytical research design have been adopted to obtain necessary information . For conducting the study data was obtained from the field using household survey, interview with tourist and hotel owners through questionnaires 55 like as, Brahman , Cheeteri, Thakuri and Tharu respondents have been selected as random sampling method . Primary information have been collected during the field survey ,household survey, besides key information interview and observation as well as secondary data has been used. Other data was also collected from different sources such as ,published and unpublished books ,journal ,articles and library . The study discloses that the majority of the people are of the Tharu communities and they are mostly engaged in traditional agriculture. They have their own traditional and culture.. There is less effort in promotion of agriculture activities in this area. Awareness programmers should be lunched in local communities and deferent facilities should be established for the satisfaction. For its betterment some suggestions are put forward like, the agriculture programme should be lunched in the study area for the employment generatement .There should be monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the resources used in particular purposive as well as getting benefit from it. People who are in miserable conduction should be provided with various income generation activities and support with awareness program.
