Abstract: This research examines the effects of Homestay in rural tourism ‘Sirubari’ village of Syangja district Nepal. There are altogether 27 homestays in this village out of them 20 household were interviewed. This study is based on both primary and secondary data. More specifically, it is based on Primary data collected using questionnaire through field survey in the study area. This Village was selected because Sirubari village is regarded as the first rural village in Nepal who initiated rural tourism and homestay program. The place is famous for its homestay. Many domestic as well as international tourists visited here every year. The local community seems to be more interested and aware on the development of tourists in this area. Moreover, the respondents believe this operation has helped in local economy, society and environment. It is also found that accommodation facilities of Sirubari are sufficient for tourists at present condition. Homestay owners earn more than 25000 per month from the tourists. Homestay brings positive as well as negative impact in the lifestyle of people. To a large extent, it brings positive changes in the lifestyle like maintaining cleanliness, preserving cultural performances in the village. Homestay program widens the horizon of the knowledge of the people in different sectors. Local organizations play great role in the running homestay. It shows that there is a great potentiality of rural tourism in Nepal. Homestay also helps to increase the employment opportunities and local people living standard. Likewise, it is helpful for the conservation of the environment in order to maintain environmental balance in the village. Furthermore, it plays pivotal role in the preservations of traditions, culture and customs of the village.
