Abstract: The title of the research is Students’ Proficiency of Cohesion in Writing. The main purpose of this research was to find out the presence of cohesion in writing by Higher Secondary level students. In order to do so, I collected the data from three Higher Secondary Schools in Baglung District. The sample population consisted of 60 students and they were selected by using random sampling procedure. After collecting the data, the students’ achievement was analyzed on the basis of frequency of the use of cohesive devices. It was found that the students studying in Baglung District were extremely poor in the concept of the use of cohesive devices in writing. This thesis consists of four chapters: chapter one deals with general background, review of related literature, objective of the study, significance of the study and the definition of the specific terms. Chapter two introduces the methodology adopted for the study. It consists of sources of data, population of study, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitation of the study. Both primary and secondary sources were consulted for data collection. Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter four consists of the findings and recommendations of the study. The findings and relevant recommendations have been presented on the basis of the interpretation of the data.
