Abstract: The research report entitled "LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN ENGLISH OF GRADE EIGHT STUDENTS" attempts to find out the learning achievements gained by the students of grade eight. The study mainly focuses on finding learning achievement in English comparing to Nepali subject. This research study suggests pedagogical implications. The approach for presented research work is mixed; both the quantitative and qualitative approaches have been implanted. Questionnaire, Interview and record study are methods applied here in this research. This study is designed on a survey research and sample population is 40 students of two community school of Gramthan Rural Municipality, Morang. The data were analyzed, interpreted and presented descriptively and statistically by using tables. From the data analysis, students' learning achievement in English was found weaker than the learning achievement of Nepali and Social Science. The average marks obtained by the students' in English was seen less than the average of Nepali and Social science, and girls are found poor in one statistical data and found strong in other statistical data. This thesis has been divided into five chapters, namely introduction, review of the related literature, methods and procedures of the study, analysis and interpretation of data, conclusions and recommendations. The first chapter focused on the background information of the research, different theoretical concepts which support the study. The chapter two dealt with review of theoretical literature, review of empirical literature related to this study, implication and conceptual framework. The third chapter dealt with methods and procedures of the study under which design of the study, population and sample, sampling procedure, data collection tools, data collection procedures and analysis and interpretation procedures. The chapter four dealt with the analysis and interpretation of results descriptively with the help of simple statistical tools such as table. Finally, the fifth chapter dealt with the conclusions and recommendations of the study. Under recommendations, implications of the study were suggested on policy level, practice level and further research level.
