Abstract: This thesis entitled ELT Situation of Community Schools of Kailali District is an attempt to explore the ELT situation of community schools in Kailali district in terms of methodology, classroom management and motivation towards teaching and learning. The researcher selected eight English language teachers and thirty-two students from different community schools of Kailali district through purposive non-random sampling procedure as the sample of the study. Different sets of questionnaires and classroom observations were the tools of data collection. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted with the help of tables, figures and teachers and students views. After the analysis and interpretation of the raw data, this study has found several positive aspects of ELT such as appropriate motivation for students, more focus on using teachers’ guide, frequent extracurricular activities for students, good participation of students in activities, organization of teaching and teachers' priority on communicative method. Moreover, it also identified some problems such as mixed ability classes, minimum use of modern ELT technologies, frequent use of Nepali language, lack of daily lesson plan, use of textbook as a sole source, negligence of listening and speaking skills, only exam oriented teaching learning activities. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the topic in which background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitation of the study and operational definition of the key terms are included. The second chapter consists of the review of related theoretical literature, review of empirical literature, implication of the study and conceptual framework. In the same line, the third chapter includes design of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, research tools, sources of data, data collection procedures, data analysis procedures and ethical considerations. The fourth chapter is about analysis of data and interpretations of result. And the fifth chapter deals with findings, conclusions and recommendations which are summed up from the analysis and interpretations of the collected data for the purpose of research. The references and appendices have been included in the last part of the thesis.
