Abstract: This research work entitledAnalysis of the studies carried out on the reading skill is an attempt to find out objectives, methodologies, findings and implications of reading skills in the department of English education and alsoto compare those studies on the grounds of commonalities and differences. Basically, all the theses of the reading skills of department of English education were taken as my study population while carrying this research out among them, I used forty theses as sample using purposive non-random sampling procedure. In this study, checklist for data collection had been devised as research tool. The efforts were made in taking all the essence of all research papers comparing and contrasting for similarities and differences in all possible grounds. My work grossly came to major finding that all the research papers have some similarities and differences at the same time on various premises like the structure, format, genre, gender and ethnic groups. But then, they largely differ in methodology, the findings and of course the approach. The study consists of five chapters. The chapter one consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study and delimitations the study. Similarly, chapter two consists of the review of the study of theoretical literature, review of empirical research, implications of the framework for the study and conceptual framework. The chapter three deals with methodological aspects under which design and method of the study, population and sample, sampling strategy, data collection tools and techniques, data analysis procedures and data analysis and interpretation procedurs. Moreover, the fourth chapter focuses on results findings of discussion and summary. And the fifth chapter of the study consists of conclusions, recommendations of the study in policy making related level practice related with some directions for the further research related followed by references and appendices.
