Abstract: This research entitled "Implementation of EMI in Public Schools" was an attempt to analyze the implementation practices of EMI in public schools in terms of benefits and challenges. Interpretative research design was followed to complete this study. The respondents for this research were selected by using non random sampling procedure. The primary data were collected from four primary level teachers of two different schools of Kathmandu valley. In-depth interview and classroom observation were the main tools for data collection. Collected data were analyzed in descriptive and qualitative way. The major finding of this study was that EMI implementation in public schools without prior planning was not only challenging but also taking risk of students' future. It was also found that everyone was aware of benefits of EMI implementation but they are waiting for the support from government which can make EMI implementation effective, fruitful and productive. Likewise, I found numerous outputs and most of them are not in the right track for providing quality education. EMI implemented public schools are not providing education in English medium. The teachers are not using English as a medium of instruction inside the classroom. It was found that there was the urgent need of teacher training for EMI implementation, availability of EMI related teaching materials, teacher's guide in English medium. This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, delimitation of the study and operational definitions of key terms. The second chapter comprises review of the related theoretical and empirical studies, implications of the studies and conceptual framework. Likewise, third chapter consists design of the study and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategies, research tools, sources of data, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure, data analysis and interpretation procedures and ethical consideration. The fourth chapter includes analysis of data and interpretation of results. Similarly, the fifth chapter focuses findings, conclusions and recommendations based on analysis and interpretation of the study.
