Abstract: This research work entitled Situation of English Medium Instruction in Community Schoolsis an attempt to explore the practice of EMI and its perceived impact on students’ learning achievement and to suggest some pedagogical implications in public school. The researcher adopted the qualitative research design. The sample of the study included two primary schools where EMIhas been implemented. In order to achieve answer the questions raised in the study, the researcher used interview and classroom observation as tools tocollect required data. The data for the study came from six classobservations and interview with six teachers and two head masters of the selected school. From the analysis and interpretation of the collected data, it was found that, the situation of EMI in community schools was not effective. The teachers perceived that students' learning achievement were decreasing day by day because of EMI. The students could not understand the subject matter effectively and obtained very low marks in examination because of EMI. Even if they knew the answer, theycould not perform wellin examination because of language barrier. In this regard, teachers limited English language proficiency, lack of instructional materials, the use of translated books, and English medium examinations were the basic elements that negatively impactedon students’ learning achievements.
