Abstract: This study entitled "Errors Committed by Gurung Speaking Learners of Englishon Subject-verb Agreement" is basically a descriptive study. It is an attempt tofind outthe errors committed by Gurung speaking learners of English on subject-verb agreement. To carry outthis studyIselected three schools from Syangjadistrict through random sampling.Twentystudentsfrom each school wererandomlyselected. Iused bothprimary and secondarysources of data.A set of testitemsconsisting of 40 objectives and onesubjectiveitemwas the tool for datacollection. The research findings showedthat the total errors committed bythestudentareone thousandtwo hundred and seventeen.The students committed fourhundred twentyerrors inthebe verbs,two hundred seventy five in have verbs andfour hundred seventytwoin main verbs.Fiftyquestionswere left unattempted.Ifound that the students were comparatively better in have verbs. Similarly,thestudents of Public Academy School was found tocommit more errors incomparison with SirukharkaJogisthan Secondary School andAmar JyotiSecondary School. This thesis comprises five chapters.Chapter onedeals with introduction whichconsists ofgeneral background,statement of the problems, rationale of the study,objectives of the study, research questions,significance of the study, delimitationsof the study andoperational definitionsof the key terms.Chaptertwodeals withthe review of related literatures and conceptual framework. It consists of reviewedof related theoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implicationof the review for study and conceptual framework. Moreover, review of relatedtheoretical literature consists of the English language and its position, presentscenario of ELT in Nepal, linguistics situation of Nepal, introduction to theGurung community, the Gurung language, khema script andthe present situationGurung speaking learners. Similarly, it includesanoverviewof errors, importanceof grammar, subject-verb agreement and rules of subject verb agreement in x English.Chapter threedeals with methods and procedures of the study. Itconsists of design of the study, population and sample, sampling procedure, datacollection procedure, data analysis and interpretation procedure.Chapter fourincorporates results and discussion of collected data.The discussion isincorporated into two major categories viz. analysis of errors and analysis ofproficiency.The last chapter consists ofsummary, conclusionsandimplicationsof the study followed by references and appendixes.
