Abstract: The present study entitled Students’ Perceptions towards Watching English Movies for Developing Speaking Skills was conducted to find out the university students’ perceptions towards watching English movies for developing speaking skills. The research design adopted in this study was survey. The researcher used a set of questionnaires consisting of close-ended items. The study was conducted in the Department of English Education, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur. Altogether, forty-five students of M.Ed. 2nd semester in T.U, Kirtipur were selected as the sample of the study using purposive non-random sampling procedure. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed and interpreted to explore their perceptions towards watching movies for speaking skills development. The overall findings of the study showed that English movies play influential role in developing speaking skills. Almost all the students were interested to watch English movies for developing Speaking skills. Moreover, this study revealed that use of movies is effective to develop components of speaking skill such as pronunciation, fluency, stress, intonation, grammar and vocabulary. Apart from English speaking ability, students can learn English culture too through the movies. The students were aware of the importance of movies for developing speaking skills. This study is composed of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of topic, which consists background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research question, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. The second chapter includes the review of related theoretical and empirical literature, implication of the review for the study and conceptual framework. Similarly, the third chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study which consists design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, sources of data, research tools, data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation procedure and ethical consideration. The fourth chapter deals with the analysis of data and interpretation of the result. Likewise, the final chapter deals with findings, conclusion and some pedagogical implications which are summed up from the analysis and interpretation of the collected data for the purpose of research followed by references and appendices.
