Abstract: This thesis entitledTheRoleof the Maxim of Encouragement in TeachingEnglishis an attempt to find out theexpected environment by teachers duringteaching period.This study was duly carried out regarding the fact that itdisseminates a newmessagein the discipline of ELT and inspires the teachersto initiate friendly environment during teaching-learning process.Thisstudybringsaradical change in the view of traditional teacherand the teacher alwaystries tomake classroomlively. To attain the objectivesof this research, 40teachers of Parsa district who were teaching in different schools were selectedas the primary sources of data. Their responses were taken through the help ofprepared questionnaire. This studypresented the synopsis that most of theteachers wantedrelaxed (friendly) environment during teaching learningperiod.They argued that suchtype of environment and relationship could bebeneficial for both teachers as well as students. Here, teachers can get goodopportunity to study and guide the students whereas students could get chanceto share their ideas, feeling and experiences with theteacheras well as with thestudents. This thesis consists of five chapters: The first chapter is introductory in nature.It introduces general background of the study. It also includes statement of theproblem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study,delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. Thesecond chapter deals with the review of related literature, implications ofreview of the study and theoretical and conceptual framework. Similarly, thethird chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study and thendesign of the study, population and sample, sampling procedures, datacollection tools, data collection procedures and data analysis and interpretationprocedures. After that, thefourth chapter deals with results and discussionsofcollected data of visited fieldand the last chapter deals with summary,conclusions and implications in policy, practice and further research levels.
