Abstract: This thesis entitled 'Kinship Terms in English and Kumal Language: A Comparative Study" attempts to determine different terms used for English and Kumal kinship relations and to compare and contrast those in morphological structure and ego- addressee forms. The researcher utilized both primary and secondary sources of data. The kinship relations and terms used to signify those relations which are universal phenomena and the major concern to anthropological study for the anthropologists and linguistics. They signify the relationships, which come in existence due to blood ties and wedding ties. In this present study, the researcher has presented different kinship relations and corresponding terms to symbolize the relations and morphological as well. For this, the researcher collected data from Kumal native speakers from Maidi VDC, Muralibhanjyang VDC and Salyantar VDC of Dhading district. So altogether sample population consists of seventy-five respondents. To achieve required data, questionnaires were used for the interview as tools of primary data collection and she checked the data being a participant observer for a week. She consulted secondary sources like books, magazines and theses and internet related to her topic. This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one deals with general background in which there is information about Kumal people, their language and the place where they live and genetic affiliation of Kumal language, statement of the problems, objectives of the study and significance of the study. Chapter II deals with methodology of research work. It is subdivided into field side, primary and secondary data, sampling population, process of data collection. Chapter III consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter IV incorporates findings and recommendations.
