Abstract: This research entitled Basic Level Novice English Teachers’ Anxiety for Their Professional Development in Nepalese Context was carried out to explore the novice teachers’ academic, pedagogical, and psychological anxieties for their professional development, to find out their challenges and strategies to overcome those anxieties and to suggest some pedagogical implications. To meet the objectives of the study, I used narrative inquiry design under qualitative research approach. The population of this study was all the novice English teachers from the basic level teachers of Sindupalchok district. Sample consisted of six basic level English novice teachers working in six different schools of Sindhupalchok district. Purposive nonrandom sampling procedure was used to determine the participants as the sources of data for the study. The data was collected through semi-structured interview to draw the life stories of the novice English teacher. Similarly, the data were analyzed and interpreted using thematic approach. From the analysis and interpretation of the data, it was found that basic level novice English teachers were found not to be able to manage the classroom properly due to the lack of content knowledge, further study, insufficient teaching materials, heterogenetic classroom, and support from the school administration. However, it was shown that training, workshop, seminar, and rapport building with colleague as reduces the way of teacher’s anxiety. This thesis has five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the study, along with the background of the study, statement of the problems, objectives of the study, research questions, rationale of the study, delimitation of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. The second chapter deals with the review of theoretical literature, review of the empirical literature, implications of the review and conceptual framework. Similarly, the third chapter deals with the method of the study, which includes all the procedure of the research. Likewise, the fourth chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the results. Finally, fifth chapter five deals with the findings, conclusions, and recommendations. The recommendations are presented three levels: policy level, practice level, and further research level. At last, references and appendix are provided.
