Abstract: his researchexplorestrans-generationaldialogue on self and motherhood in BernadineEvaristo’s novelGirl, Woman, Other, explainsthe familiar voices of mothers that resoundfrom within the structure of self. The concept oftrans- generationaltrauma and its transmission is examined,as well as the potential of phantoms to transformthrough generations into the reality ofEvaristo’s characters.Bybringingthe theoretical conceptofNicoletaGheorgeontrans- generational trauma, this research exploresself-identity and motherhood in the novel. The trans-generational dialogue, which occurs because oftheDNA Test, gets the female characters traumatized inthe novel, whichhelps themtohave subjectivity as the black women in the white dominated British society. Thus, the research concludes thattransgression oftraumais a caustic factorinstigatingidentity crisisamong the women of the color.
