Abstract: | The research is entitled Effectiveness of Games and Pictures in Teaching Vocabulary. The objective of the study was to find out the effectiveness of games and pictures in teaching vocabulary to grade three students of basic primary level. The students of grade three are from an institutional school were selected for the experiential research. Ten sets of test items were used as tools for data collection. Majority of students were found to have poor performance in vocabulary in pre test but they were found to have good performance in post test as the difference of score was found to be 18.5 between two tests. The study has showed that pictures and games were very effectives for teaching vocabulary to the students of basic primary level. Furthermore, the findings of the study also indicated that well-selected games and pictures could enhance students’ language learning process as well as increase their motivation to learn the target language. The study's findings suggested that well-chosen games and pictures could help students to improve their language acquisition as well as their motivation to learn the target language. This thesis is organized into five chapters. Chapter one includes background of the study. It also consists of statement of the problems, objectives of the study, significance of the study and delimitations of the study. The second chapter deals with the review of the theoretical literature review of impractical studies, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with the design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, data analysis and interpretations procedure. The fourth chapter deals with analysis of the data and interpretation of the result and summary of findings. The fifth chapter presents conclusions and recommendations of the study. It concludes the findings and presents some pedagogical implications and recommendations at policy related level, practice rented level and further research reacted level. The final part of the thesis entails references, appendices. |
