It is the movement of highly skilled and qualified people towards a country where they can work in better conditions and earn more money. It is also termed as “human capital flight” because it resembles the case of capital flight. Brain Drain occurs for a variety of reasons, but one of the primary reasons is the search for better opportunities and a higher standard of living. Skilled workers, such as doctors, engineers, and scientists, often find that they can earn higher salaries and have better access to resources, such as advanced technology and research facilities, in other countries. Additionally, some countries may not have the same level of political stability, economic growth, or social freedoms, which can make it difficult for skilled workers to achieve their professional and personal goals. Another reason for Brain Drain is the lack of job opportunities in certain fields or sectors. Skilled workers may find that there are limited job opportunities in their home countries, particularly in specialized fields such as healthcare, technology, and engineering. This can lead to frustration and a desire to seek better opportunities elsewhere. The objective of the study is to analyze the causes and effects of brain drain of Nepalese students. Due to the specific nature of the research objectives, descriptive cum analytical research design has been used Brain drain is a serious problem in Nepal. It creates both a positive effect and a negative effect directly or indirectly in the economic development of the country. Our best minds are draining away from many years and its number is increasing day by day. Unlike Nepalese people going for overseas employment, the history of study migration is more. Quality education, part time job, international work experiences and new culture traditions are attracting them. These days an even small child says that they will get good academic results and will go abroad for happy and secured life.en_US
