The present research work makes an intensive study of Herman Melville's “Bartleby the Scrivener” and “Benito Cereno” and attempts to show how the working class people are exploited, and made silent through constructed reality-truth-in capitalism; and how such speechlessness leads to death in these stories. Furthermore, it tries to exhibit the voicelessnesss of the proletariats as a revolt in capitalism. The whole thesis revolves around the bitter reality of the proletariats in capitalism.en_US
