Abstract: The title of this thesis is "Effectiveness of Audio Materials in Teaching Pronunciation". The aim of this study is to find out the effectiveness of audio materials in developing pronunciation and speaking skill and to suggest some pedagogical implications. This is an experimental research. The researcher selected fifty students of grade eight by using simple random sampling procedure. For this research, first the test items for both pre-test and post test were prepared. The words for the test items were selected from the glossary of Our English Book, Grade Eight. The pre-test was administered to the sample before the actual classroom teaching. The students were split in two groups i.e., experimental and controlled on the basis of odd and even roll number. The experimental group was taught using audio dictionary whereas the controlled group was taught without using any materials. The pronunciation of the six vocabulary items were practised per day for both the groups. Each group was taught for twenty nine days, one period in a day and each period lasted for 45 minutes. Finally, the post test was administered to both the groups. Each student's pronunciation was recorded and analysed. The data were analysed and interpreted both qualitatively and quantitatively which were collected from pre-test and post-test. The over all finding of the study showed that the use of audio materials have a positive impact in developing speaking as well as pronunciation skill. The research study consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the general background of the study, statement of the problems, objectives of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. The second chapter deals with the theoretical and empirical literature, implication of the review of the study and conceptual framework of the study. Similarly, third chapter encompasses with methods and procedures of the study under the design of population sample, sampling strategy, data collection tools and techniques and data interpretation and analysis. Fourth chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the data and summary of the findings. Finally, chapter five deals with conclusions and recommendations for policy related, practice related and further research related recommendations. Lastly, the references and appendices have been included
