Title: Effectieveness of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in Teaching Writing

Abstract: The present study “ Effectiveness of TBLT in teaching writing” aimed at finding outthe effectiveness of Task-Based Approach in teaching and learning in secondaryschools. No research has been carried out to assess the effectiveness of TBLT inteaching writing under the Department of English Education . Present studysuggests some recommendations about this approach. For that purpose I selectedone Private School of Baglung district and 24 students from grade nine. Differenttests viz., pre-test, progress tests and post-test were administered to 24 studentsduring school time. From the study, it was found that Task-Based Approach is veryeffective. It was also found that this approach increases autonomy in writing anddevelops writing of the students. This thesis has been organized into four chapters. The first chapter introduces thestudy in terms of general background, review of related literature, objectives andsignificance of the study.It provides theoretical input for Task-Based LanguageTeaching and it’s practices. Chapter two deals with the methodology adopted for thestudy under which; the sources of data, sampling procedure, tools for datacollection, process of data collection and limitations of the study are presented. Thestudy isbased on both primary and secondary sources of data. Chapter threepresents the analysis and interpretation of the data based on 24 students’ responseafter my teaching by using Task-Based Language Teaching. In this section bothstatistical as well as descriptive approaches have been used. I draw on the datagenerated from secondary level students, also present, analyze,and interprete theinformation I gathered from Universal Sublime Academy of Baglung, district.Chapter four discusses the findings and recommendations of this research. Thereferences and appendices form the concluding part of the thesis.
