dc.description.abstract | This thesis entitled Irony in Don Delillo's White Noise is an exploration of irony in this novel. It is about the ironical position of the novelist in taking about death the novel concentrates on instability of self which is realized towards the end of novel by the central character Babette. It is also about the desire for freedom which is found only at the movement of death which becomes ironical in the novel. The condition of illusion of the characters controlled by the technology and mass media also make the situation of ironical condition in the character. To study the issues the research draws theoretical insights from postmodern irony and analysis the presentation of self of the characters in the novel. | en_US |
