Abstract: This thesis entitled "Strategies Used in Teaching Poetry" is intended to discover the strategies applied by the teachers while teaching poems in Grade XII. For this, data have been collected from four Higher Secondary Schools of Dangihat, Hasandaha and Amardaha VDCs of Morang district through interview, questionnaire and observation taken from the respected subject teachers and students. The purposed study has been divided into four chapters. Chapter one encompasses general background, review of related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study. Chapter two deals with methodology. It incorporates sources of data, population of the study, sample population, tools for data collection, limitation of the study and process of data analysis. Chapter three includes analysis and interpretation of data. Chapter four consists of finding and recommendations. Some findings have been presented on the basis of the analysis and interpretation done in the previous chapters. The major findings are; the teachers still use traditional strategies of teaching poetry. In comparison to city area than in village area, the teachers follow pre-teaching, while- teaching and post-teaching activities. With the help of findings conclusion is drawn and some recommendations are made. The appendices and references are given in the final part of the thesis
