Abstract: | The study “Contraceptive Knowledge and Use among Women of Reproductive Age of Slum Area: A Case Study in Meghauli-5, Chitwan District" has been carried out using primary data from 83 households and 92 respondents of currently married women of age group 15-49 years. The main objectives are given below: - To examine the knowledge, attitude and practice of contraceptive among currently married women age 15-49 years. - To examine the relationship among currently married reproductive age group of women education and occupation towards the use of contraceptives. - To assess the reason for use and non use of contraceptive by currently married women. The study has found that knowledge of family planning is that almost universal among respondents. All of them were familiar with at least modern method of contraceptive. Women with higher economic and educational status tend to have more knowledge on family planning method. Among all modern methods respondents have good knowledge on male/female sterilization, depo and condom. Current use of family planning is not satisfactory. Current use of contraceptive method is only 44 respondents or 48 percent and ever use of contraceptive is 58 respondents or 63 percent. 52 percent respondents did not use family planning, method because of various problems such as desire of children, fear of side effects, opposite of seniors, health problems etc. |
