Title: Mongolia: Health Sector Fact Sheet
Authors: ADB
Issue Date: Jun-2017
Description: ADB has been one of the largest multilateral development partners helping Mongolia reform its health care system since 1993. Mongolia’s health system was based on an outdated Soviet model that was dominated by an extensive network of hospitals that emphasized facility-based curative care. As part of the transition from a centrally planned to a market economy, Mongolia began building a sustainable and efficient health care system focusing on client needs and high-quality services. To date, ADB assistance to Mongolia’s health sector totals $132.55 million consisting of five loans of $84.9 million, seven grants of $37 million, and 15 technical assistance projects of $10.65 million.
