Abstract: | The thesis entitled “Compound Verbs in English and Maithili Languages : AComparative Study” endeavours to analyze, compare and contrast the compound verbs ofEnglish and Maithli Languages. The first chapter is introductory in nature. It includes generalbackground,background and origin of Maithili and English language, importance of grammar, problemof study, hypothesis, methodology, objectives of the study, review of literature, limitationsstudy and organization of study. The second chapter, which is one of the focal points of this dissertation deals withthe morphological study of English and Maithili Compound Verbs. The third chapter has presented the syntactic analysis of English and MaithiliCompound Verbs. This Chapter analyzes the functions of English and Maithili CompoundVerbs. The fourth chapter which is another focal point of this thesis, has found out somesimilarities and dissimilarities in English and Maithili Languages in terms of Compoundverbs. Finally, the fifth chapter provides brief summary and conclusion. |
