dc.description.abstractThe thesis entitled "A Study on Code-mixing in Chitwania Tharu Language" aims to analyze the use of English words in the Chitwania Tharu language. This research focuses on the content words in which code-mixing takes place. In order to carry out this work, the researcher obtained data from the primary and secondary sources. The sample population consists of the Chitwania Tharu speakers from Khairahani VDC. They are from educated and uneducated group of male and female. They are 80 altogether. The researcher used purposive sampling procedure to collect the data. The researcher made use of audio-cassette recorder, observation and interview as research tools. The findings of this work are that the mixing of English words is gradually increasing day by day due to educated people, and people going to a foreign country in search of job and young generation. Maximum number of nouns are found to be mixed followed by verbs and adjectives but phrases and sentences were less used. The research contains four chapters. Chapter one deals with the general background, fundamentals of language structure, review of related literature, objectives and significance of the study. It also includes definitions of the terms. Chapter two presents the methodology, source of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, tools for data collection, stepwise procedure of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of data. The data was analyzed and interpreted using simple statistical tools like frequency and percentage. Chapter four consists of findings and pedagogical implications of the research.en_US
