Abstract: This study entitled "Semantic Network: A Descriptive Study" attempts to analyze the semantic network in conversation. It concentrates to show semantic relations particularly on synonyms, antonyms, meronyms/holonyms and hyponyms/hypernyms. For the study, eighty-three populations from twenty-five conversations were selected from different places of Kathmandu district and a few of them were selected from recordings of IELTS classes and movies. The conversation recorded from different places were analyzed in terms of synomyms, antonyms, meronyms/holonyms and hyponyms/hypernyms. The researcher found that use of synonyms was greater in comparison to antonyms, meronyms/holonyms and hyponyms/hypernyms. This thesis includes four chapters. The first chapter introduces the study in terms of general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter is an account of the methodology applied to carry out the research work. It also shows the limitations of the study. The third chapter deals with analysis and interpretation of data. The data were analyzed in terms of their semantic relations on particular conversations. The fourth and final chapter presents the list of findings and some recommendations made on the basis of the analysis and interpretation of data.
