Abstract: The thesis entitled "FORMS OF SUGGESTION IN ENGLISH AND BHOJPURI" is an attempt to find out forms of suggestion in English and Bhojpuri and to compare them. The researcher used both primary and secondary sources of data. The sample population of the study consists of 60 informants of Bhojpuri speakers. They were selected randomly. Interview schedule was used on the basis of two categories of suggestion. Secondary forms were taken from Matreyek (1983:125), Blundell et al. (1997:140) and Jones (1987:59). 52 forms of suggestion in English and 107 forms of suggestion in Bhojpuri were found. This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one deals with introduction of the study. It consists of introduction to English and Bhojpuri languages, linguistic scenario of Nepal, form function relations, literature review, objectives of the study, and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with the sources of data, sample population and sampling procedure, tools for data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three presents the analysis and interpretation of the data. It deals with the forms of suggestions in English and Bhojpuri, and comparison on the basis of number, sentence use, direct and indirect forms of suggestion and frequent suggestions. The analysis and interpretation were presented with the help of charts and tables. Chapter four consists of the summary, findings and recommendations.
