Abstract: This research entitled " Reading Comprehension Proficiency of the Students of Janabadi Model School and Government-aided School" was conducted with the main objectives of finding out the reading comprehension of the students of grade six and to compare reading comprehension of the students of grade six of Janabadi Model school and Government-aided school. Altogether four schools were selected by using non-random sampling procedure for the data collection. Two schools were selected from Rolpa district, i.e. one was Janabadi Model school and another was government-aided school. Similarly two schools were selected from Rukum: one was Janabadi Model school and another was Government-aided school. Twenty students were selected randomly from each school. Thus, the magnitude of the sample population was eighty only. To carry out this research work, the researcher prepared both subjective and objective test items. The purpose behind selecting these districts was to represent similar districts with same geographical area and same socio-economic background of the students. The students studying in the Janabadi Model Schools in Rukum and Rolpa districts performed far better than the students studying in Government-aided schools. The average reading comprehension ability of their counterparts of Janabadi Model schools was 71.35 percent whereas the students of Government-aided school was 51.15 percent. This study has been divided into four different chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction which includes general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study. Similarly, sources of data, process of data collection, limitation of the study are included in the second chapter. The third chapter deals with the analysis and Interpretation. In this chapter the collected data was analyzed by using simple statistical tools like mean and percentage. The fourth chapter deals with findings and recommendations.
