Abstract: Children are the reflection of the socio economic reality and also who are the futurearchitects and back bone of the country have inborn rights to survival, protection,education, health care, nutrition and a favorable atmosphere for development. Thefamily is the first school of children and parents are their first teacher. Children learnpreliminary social requisites and acquire primary educational foundation from theirparents in home. Parents should have greatresponsibilities and duties to rear up andeducate the children. So, parent's role is very significant in social and educationaldevelopment of a child. In every society there are children who can't live with theirnatural parents for a variety of reasons. Apart from the death of one or both parentsin war or natural disasters or as a result of an accident disease or famine there havebeen a growing number of cases in the last twenty years in which children have notbeen able to remain with their familiesdue to social circumstances. This study "The Orphan Child Condition in Nepal: A Case Study of UmbrellaOrganization Nepal Swoyambhu Kathmandu" is a quantitative as well as qualitativestudy to analyze the condition of orphan child in Umbrella OrganizationNepal. Thestudy was conducted with the major objective was to find the condition of the orphanchildren living in Organizationand other specificobjective wereto present the currentcondition of the Orphan children, to find out the root cause came behindthe arrival atthis organizationand to assess the program conducted by the organization to supportthe children. For this study"Umbrella Organization Nepal" was selected andrespondents wereselected randomly. The field survey, key informant interview, observation, case study,were the techniques of data collection and questionnaire (both structured andunstructured), key informant schedule, observation checklist were the tools for datacollection. After the collection of data, the data were analysis both qualitatively andquantitatively.Analyses of data revealed that majority of the children in this organization are male.Most of the respondents are from thosedistrictswhich were highly affected by the tenyears of conflict. Majority of children have relationship with their family afterarriving inthe organization. Some respondents don't know about their family. Fieldsurvey report shows that fifty per cent respondents left their home due to the death oftheir father and seven per cent respondents don't know the reasons of leaving home.The organization is supported by Umbrella Foundation, Ireland and also running bythe help of other countries and as well as by the foreigner volunteers.There isno anyfinancial support byGovernment but the landfor the Gurje Project in Nuwakot hasbeen provided and all the children of the organization will be taken in Nuwakot by2011. Children are encouraged to do their personalwork according to their skill andcapacity. Twenty- five to thirty children are staying in a single home with staffs offamily environment. All the children are getting opportunity to read and write.Thechildren are getting increase in every year but the resources are limited, there is asatisfaction management but still huge income sources are necessary to provide safefuture for the more orphan children of Nepal. The most essential for all round development of a child is the "love, careand thesecurity of a family". Ifchildren growout of this, his / her life becomes very difficultand in most cases uncertain. In the case of Nepal the last ten years of conflictseparated many children with their parents and having orphan life. To uplift thecondition of these orphan childrenthe society, the government and the child relatedorganizationshould take initiatives.
