Abstract: The research “Subversion of Patriarchy in Bhoomi Pooja” is based on the festival of Magar community. The women perform the local cultural dance in cross dressing with different types of gesture and activities to challenge the patriarchy. Cross dressing helps the women to hide their reality and challenge the hitherto existing patriarchal society. The research finds out that the cross dressing renders women power to question the patriarchal norms and values of the society.
