dc.description.abstract | This thesis entitled "Content Validity of General English test itemsat B.Ed.level "A Case of reading and writing" attempts to determine whether the reading andwriting test itemshavecontent validity or not. The main objective of this research study was to analyze the content validityof reading and writing test itemsat B.Ed. level. In order to fulfill this purpose, theresearcher analyzed five years question papers from 2059 to 2063B.S. of readingand writing.Only the secondary sources of data were used for this purpose. The testcontents were comparedand analysis was donewith course contents in terms ofcoverage and weightage. It was found that "Reading and Writing" test items havelow content validity in terms of content coverage andhavehighcontent validity interms ofcourse content weightage. This study is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction which consists of generalbackground (Language teaching and language testing,an introduction to test, typesof tests, functionsand purposes of test,requirements of a good test, introduction toGeneral English at B.Ed. level, the syllabus of General English, general informationof the course book, and four basic language skills). It also includes review of theliterature, objectivesof the studyand significance of the study. The second chapter is related to the methodology which consists of sources ofdata,tools for data collection,process of data collection and limitation of the study. The third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the collecteddata which have been analyzed and interpreted in terms of coverage and weightagein order to find out content validity of the related test. The last chapter deals with the findings, recommendations and pedagogicalimplications of the study.These findings have been outlinedon the basis of theanalysis and interpretation of data and appropriate recommendations andpedagogical implications have been made. | en_US |
