Abstract: The present research work entitled “Effectiveness ofParaorthographicTexts” is carried out to determine the effectivenessofthe reading texts in learning that have paraorthographies along withorthographiesand onlyorthographies in some lessons of the text bookofgrade XI; the researcher realized this language problems in learning. Forthis, gradeXI students of government aidedandprivate schools fromSaptari, Lalitpur and Kathmandu districts were taken as samplepopulation.Out of some unidentifiedpicturesmentionedin the text-book,only onepicture and passage were taken for this research. The test wasadministered three times in one month interval in the different schools tocheck theeffectivenessof paraorthography among the students and thethird test was the last experimental test of the research fromdifferentdistricts. The three tests were compared to find out the effectiveness ofparaorthographic texts in teaching and learning. In the study, it was found that there was the obviouseffectivenessof paraorthographic texts irrespectiveof geographical areas, genders, andfaculties.Students in learning were found better in the Paraorthographictexts than in the orthographic texts. That is, the paraorthographic textswere easier for students to comprehend in comparison to orthographictexts. This research has been divided into four chapters. Chapter oneintroduces the short introduction of English Language, definition andadditional elements oforthographic andparaorthographic texts, review ofthe related literature, objectives of the study and significance of thepresentstudy. The second chapter deals with methodology adopted for the studyunder which sources of data (primary and secondary sources), samplingprocedure, tools for data collection, processes of data collection andlimitations of the study are presented. The third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of data.The data were analyzed and interpreted by tabulating data on the basis ofaverage increment percentage. The analysis has been presented under thefollowing headings: 1 Holistic–Comparison.2 Group–based comparison. The fourth chapter deals with the findings and recommendationsand pedagogical implicationswhich are made on the basis of the analysisand interpretation of the collected data. Besides themain chapters, the supportive materials such as nameof respondents, questionnaire and references were presented in theappendix sections.
