Abstract: The growth rate of elderly population is worldwide phenomena. Both developed and developing countries have experiences of ageing population and the status of elderly people is different in term of socio-economic and demographic context. Elderly people in developed countries live with high quality life where as the elderly people in the developing countries are far from quality life and even they faced various problems. Nepal is a developing country, it is experiencing ageing population with high growth rate since 1950s. But comparing to its increasing number Nepal does not have any clear policy. To analyze the socio-economic and demographic status of elderly people living in Amarghadi municipality ward no. 8 and 9, Dadeldhura is main purpose of this study. The study includes 105 elderly people as a sample. Primary and secondary sourc4e of data has been used. Qualitative and quantitative information was obtained through key information. For data analysis simple statistical method like frequency count and percentage distribution were applied. In Amaarghadi municipality ward no. 8 and 9 Dadeldhura, most of the people have lower income per month and depend unproductive agriculture. The over all status of female elderly was worst than that of male elderly. The health situation of elderly people was not satisfactory. Significant number of elderly population was living in joint family. Majority of elderly population wants to give their property to their son. Illness, isolation and poverty were main problem of elderly people in study area. All respondents in the study area are belief in Hindu religion.
