Abstract: This thesis entitled“Clause Combining in English and Limbu”is an attempt toidentify and compare clause combining system in English and Limbu (Panthare). Thisis a survey research in nature. The primary sources of data for the study were the informants of the Kurule Tenupa V.D.C. The researcher selected 23 informants fromeach ward numbers (from 5, 6 and 9 of Kurule Tenupa V.D.C.), altogether 86. He collected the data using interview sheet. He applied judgmental sampling procedure for sampling the population. He spent 25 days for the collection of the data. Most ofthe Limbu subordinators occur in the final position of the subordinate clause where as Most of the English subordinators occur in the initial position of the subordinate clause. This research consists of four chapters. Chapter one basically deals with the study in terms of general background, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with the Methodology that consists of sources of data, sampling procedure, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitation of the study. Chapter three deals with the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. In this chapter, determination and analysis of the Limbu clause, analysis of the coordination, subordination and converb clause have been analyzed. Similarly, clause combining system in the English and Limbu language are also compared. Then, chapter four consists of findings, recommendations and pedagogical implications of the study. Findings are derived from the analysis and interpretation of the data carried out in chapter three and recommendations and pedagogical implications are made on the basis of those findings. Finally references and appendixes are included.
