Community Apathy to Address Child Negligence of Hayu Children: A Case Study of Ramechhap Municipality

Abstract

The present thesis entitledCommunity Apathy toAddress ChildNegligence of HayuChildren: A Case Study of Ramechhap Municipality is the partial fulfillment of therequirementsfor the Rural Development. The general objective of the study is tofind out the present condition ofHayu childrenfrom the perspective of the Negligence. The specific objectives of study area are toanalyze the causes and effects of child negligence and role of the community tominimize the existing child negligence. Child negligence is not taken as seriously as the child abuse since the impacts of thechild abuse can be seen whereas the impacts of the neglect cannot be seen. But theeffects of the child negligence can be long lasting. There are no reports on theprevalence of child negligence in the hayu community and the cases of child negligenceare still not considered as important as child abuse. In abuse children get scars andbruises and the cases of child abuse are visible, however the cases of child negligenceare not visible. Therefore, based on their access to the educational facilities and healthfacilities, mentioned above we can draw the picture in our mind that the place whereprimary needs of the children are not taken well care. Out of the 58households were surveyed both primary and secondary sources wereused for the purpose of data collection. Questionnaire schedule, key informantinterview, focus group discussion and observation were used for primary data. 'Hayu' is identified as one of indigenous group which is listed as one of theendangered caste of Nepal. It is focused to find out effects, causes of the childnegligence in the community. It is observed that the existence of child negligence andthe lack of awareness in community regarding this. So, the government shouldprovide different program. Government should provides regular classes for specialeducation to change their traditional mind. It is hoped that this study community apathy on child negligence is an important work. Thus, attempt will serve as a valuable document now and in future to formulate policies, strategies, development programmer and projects for upliftment of the statusof Hayu children to minimize the negligence and its risks. This thesis discuss about the negligence of hayu children of RamechhapMunicipality.
