Abstract
This dissertation entitled “Role of Non Timber forest products (NTFPs) in livelihood upliftment of rural people (A case study from Nache CF from Manang District)” This study purposes to assess the actual and potential contribution of NTFPs to livelihood of local people. Along with Reconnaissance survey, direct field visit, focus group discussion (n=2), key informant interview (n=4), Questionnaire survey (n=60) and PRA tools were conducted, constitutes for primary data and several literatures, Google browser,journals,Telephone, books etc. were toughly reviewed and summarized for Secondary data collection. The collected data were analyzed using MS-Excel 2013, Arc GIS 10.3 version. Similarly simple statistical tools are used i.e. pie chart, column, table and 3 levels of Likert scale to measure attitudes of Livelihood assets with rural people. Specific objectives carried out to list out the NTFPs species of Nache CF, to find out the socio-economic contribution of NTFPs to the livelihood of community people and Overall contribution of NTFPs is high in Human assets i.e. 26% and lowest in physical assets i.e. 5%. The most potential 15 NTFPs identified among them Satuwa (Paris Pollyphylla), Ban lasun (Allium wallichi) & Nirmashi (Delphinium dendatum) contributed for economically significant. Altogether, the contribution of NTFPs on annual income per households is PRs 5.655 lakhs and Rs.9, 425 per households.
