The Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) can be splitted into three sub-processes; the recording of the experiment, the image processing and determination of the velocity components. It is essential that each of the three steps be accurate to determine the actual velocity components. Many factors can affect the end result in the particle tracking velocimetry. These factors are scattered in many papers. This thesis collects all the factors that can affect the velocity components in each three steps. The thesis then deals with the modified relaxation based algorithm for tracking the tracer particles between the two image frames. The effect of the maximum threshold value used in the relaxation method on the matching percent and the time for computation is deducted.en_US
