dc.description.abstractTheadvancementsinbroadbandandmobilecommunicationhasgivenmanyprivilegestothesubscribersforinstancehighspeeddataconnectivity,voiceandvideoapplicationsineconomicalrateswithgoodqualityofservices.WiMAXisaneminenttechnologythatprovidesbroadbandandIPconnectivityon“lastmile”scenario.OrthogonalfrequencydivisionmultipleaccessusesadaptivemodulationtechniqueonthephysicallayerofWiMAXanditusestheconceptofcyclicpreixthataddsadditionalbitsatthetransmitterend.Thesignalistransmittedthroughthechannelanditisreceivedatthereceiverend.Thenthereceiverremovestheseadditionalbitsinordertominimizetheintersymbolinterference,toimprovethebiterrorrate.ThisreportincludesthestudyofthetechnologicalaspectsofWiMAXstandardsandevaluate/analyzetheperformanceofWiMAXphysicallayerindifferentperspectives.Inthisresearchwork,Iinvestigatethephysicallayerperformanceonthebasisofbiterrorrate,signaltonoiseratioetc.Theperformancewouldbeanalyzedindifferent aspectssuchaswiththevariationofdifferentmodulationtechniques,cyclicprefix,coding,channelmodelsetc.ThedifferenttechniquesemployedarestudiedtoknowtheimpactofvariationsofdifferentparameterscausingthevariationinthedesiredoutputthsmaximizingthesystemthroughputandimprovingBERperformance.TherearealsootherdifferentBroadbandWirelessTechnologieswhichprovidesbroadbandsolutionstothecustomerssuchas3G,WCDMA,HSPA,WiFi,LTEetc.Inthisthesis,IhavestudiedinbriefondifferentBWAtechnologiesandalsocompareotherBWAtechnologieswithrespecttoWiMAXinthekeydimensions.en_US
