Item A Study on Health Status of Elderly People(Faculty of Health Education, 2015) Poudel, TaraMany health problems as well as socio-economical problems social, mental problems are faced during the old age. The several studies have been under taken regarding the elderly people. It is necessary to study about their relationship with thefamily, their socio-economic status, and health status in order to enhance and promot their health status. As per with development, modernizationthe concept of nuclear family is rising so elderly people mostly are compelled to move to Briddhaashram. Sthe title was selected "Health Status of Elderly People." The main objective of thestudy was to find out the Health status of elderly people and their socio-economic condition. All the 35 elderly people were taken as population for the study using census method. An Interview schedule was used for data collection. Out of 35 respondents only 3 respondents i.e. 8.57 percent were only not suffering forany kind of disease and the rest 91.43 percent respondents were suffering from different kind of disease. 74.28 percent of the respondents were depend on agriculture before coming to Briddashram and at the present time their only source of income was elderly allowance and pension. Majority of elderly people 68.57 percent illiterate and were onthe Briddashram being left by their children. The elderly people were satisfied withthe facilities like lodging, fooding, medicinal facilities provided by Briddashram. From this study, the researcher recommended to the family and society to have positive attitude and respect for elderly people and to the GO s and NGO to organize different programme for the support elderly people. s
