Item An analysis of english textbook grade nine(Department of English Education, 2022) Karki, PujaThis thesis entitled An Analysis of English Textbook Grade Nine is an attempt to analyze the textbook in terms of its physical aspects, academic aspects, strength and weakness and needs and interest of the learners. In the process of this study, I collected data from primary and secondary sources. The primary sources of data were the responses provided by the English teachers who are teaching English Textbook Grade Nine in Sunsari and Morang districts (See Appendix-E), and students who were taught English using English Textbook Grade Nine (Appendix-F). The main secondary source of data was the textbook itself. In order to collect the data, two sets of questionnaires were prepared for the teachers and students (see Appendix A & B). Apart from this, the researcher herself studied the textbook in great detail. The obtained data were tabulated and analyzed using a simple statistical tool. It was found that the contents of the textbook are related to the students' need in which 30/40 respondents agreed on it. Regarding language of the subject, respondents agreed on it. The findings of the study are based on teachers’ and students’ perceptions on the textbook. (See table No: 1). The textbook has also emphasized in the communicative function of language in which 28/40 respondents agreed on it. (See table No: 2) This research study consists of five chapters: introduction, review of related literature, methodology, results and discussions and findings and recommendations. The first chapter introduction contains general background, statements of the problems, rationale of the study, objectives of the study, research questions, significant of the study and delimitations of the study. Similarly, second chapter deals with review of the related literature, implication of the reviewed literature and conceptual framework. Chapter three methods and procedures of the study consists of design of ix the study, sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedures, data collection tools and procedures, process of data collection and data analysis and interpretations. Forth chapter is based on results and discussions of the data. In this section introduction of analysis and interpretation, identification and analysis of cohesive devices in the related story and conclusion of the coherence. Finally, fifth chapter consists of findings and recommendations of the study. Reference and appendices are presented at the end of this chapter.
