Item Contraceptive Knowledge and Use (A Case Study of Tanahunsur Vdc, Tanahun District)(Department of Population Studies, 2007) Acharya, MamtaThe study entitled"Contraceptive Knowledge and Use"was conducted on the basis of primary data collected from 110 households of the Tanahunsur VDC of Tanahun District. All 110 currently married women of reproductive age group (15-49 years) were successfully interviewed. Purposive sampling technique was used to draw sample size.Descriptive analysis was employed to evaluate the objectives. The central purpose of this study was to assess the determinants of contraceptive knowledge and use and the specific objectives of the study are to examine the knowledge and practice of contraceptive methods, to examine the role of education in the use of contraceptive methods among currently married women and to identify the socio-economi cand demographic determinants of contraceptive methods. The major findings and conclusion of the study shows that the total population of the study area, female population is more than that of male. An overwhelming percentage of women respondents are found engaging in agricultural occupation. Most of there spondents are confined in family having less than 5 Ropani land. Literacy rate of eligible women is found about 76.4 percent in the study area, which is higher than the national average figure. The majority of the respondents have heard about at least one of the contraceptive methods. Specifically Depo-Provera (89.1%) appears to be the best known method. About85.5 percent women discuss/communicate with her husband about family planning. The attitude toward contraceptive is found positive in Tanahunsur VDC. Husband/wife communication has strong influence on the use of contraceptive method. The role of education is found to be positive in the use of contraceptive methods in the study area. The most common method of contraception used in this study area was Depo-Provera (60.3 percent) of total contraceptive use. The CPR was higher for those women who are engaged in non-farming occupation, than those who engaged in farming activities. A majority of current users reported to have received any forms of modern contraceptive from hospital. Most of the contraceptive users are birth spacer because sterilization is widely accepted methods. Majority of currently married women of reproductive age had opinion that husband should go for sterilization. Thus the findings of this study show that the contraceptive prevalence rate was not so sound, due to the lack of awareness, poverty and illiteracy. If all women with unmet need were to use family planning, the contraceptive prevalence rate would increase.Item Contraceptive Knowledge and Use Among Women of Reproductive Age of Slum Area (A Case Study of Meghauli Vdc-5, Chitwan District)(Department of population studies, 2008) Bhusal, YasodhaThe study “Contraceptive Knowledge and Use among Women of Reproductive Age of Slum Area: A Case Study in Meghauli-5, Chitwan District" has been carried out using primary data from 83 households and 92 respondents of currently married women of age group 15-49 years. The main objectives are given below: - To examine the knowledge, attitude and practice of contraceptive among currently married women age 15-49 years. - To examine the relationship among currently married reproductive age group of women education and occupation towards the use of contraceptives. - To assess the reason for use and non use of contraceptive by currently married women. The study has found that knowledge of family planning is that almost universal among respondents. All of them were familiar with at least modern method of contraceptive. Women with higher economic and educational status tend to have more knowledge on family planning method. Among all modern methods respondents have good knowledge on male/female sterilization, depo and condom. Current use of family planning is not satisfactory. Current use of contraceptive method is only 44 respondents or 48 percent and ever use of contraceptive is 58 respondents or 63 percent. 52 percent respondents did not use family planning, method because of various problems such as desire of children, fear of side effects, opposite of seniors, health problems etc.Item Contraceptive Knowledge, Attitude and Practice among Adolescents (A Case Study of Some Selected Higher Secondary Schools in Lamjung District)(Department of Populations Studies, 2010) Regmi, ArchanaThis study is field based with primary data taken from different higher secondary school in Lamjung Districts. The main aim is providing the information on KAP of contraceptives especially Emergency Contraception. Emergency Contraceptives is not common for Nepalesepotential users. Three factors lacking knowledge on it. The first is no appropriate knowledge on providers, the second is no information to users and the thirds no easy accessibility of EC. According to NDHS, 49% user is using any family planning method. In this research 92% heard about family planning method. 115 respondents heard one method, 73 heard about two methods, 84 respondents heard about three methods and 53 heard four methods of family planning. Among total respondents, 84% heard about Pills, 56% hard IUD, 72% heard about DepoProvera, 41% heard about Norplant and 94% heard about Condom. 75% respondents accept message or advertisement motivate people towards use of contraception. 38% were agreed whether information and services are only for married people. About 31% respondents support information and services of contraceptives need to provide to adolescents especially unmarried. Among them about 17% respondents heard about Emergency Contraception, 83% don’t hear about EC. We have 2 method of EC. They are combined Pills and Copper-T.Item Contraceptive Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Among Dalit Women (A Case Study in Khalanga VDC, Salyan)(Department of Population Studies, 2007) Thapa, Tufan SinghThe study on 'Contraceptive Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Among Dalit Community' has been carried out using primary data obtained from 146 respondents of 125 houlehold for currently married women aged 15-49 years in the study area. In this study knowledge, useand reasons for non-use of contraceptives among currently married women aged 15-49 years are examined. The total sample population is 822 in the study area. Among them,407 are males and 415 are females. The sex ratio is 98.07. Majority of currently married women (93.15%) are familiar with at least one contraceptive method. 56 percent are ever user and 51 percent found current user in the study area. 27.8 percent currently married women are not using contraceptive due to their desire for son and 25 percent didn't like to use contraceptive due to their desire more children. There are curvilinear relationship with number of living children,education of women and current users of contraceptives. Non-linearrelationship is found between age of women and current users of contraceptive. The positive relationship has been found with occupation of women, number of living sons and current user of contraceptive.
