Item Effectiveness of Rapid Reading in Promoting Reading Skills”(Department of English Education, 2013) Sah Kanu, Anil Kumar PrasadThis research study entitled "Effectiveness of Rapid Reading in Promoting Reading Skills" was an attempt to find out the effectiveness of rapid reading in promoting reading skills and to provide pedagogical implications. The study was conducted at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Birgunj, Parsa.The students of class nine were purposively selected as the sample of the study.A pre-test was administered before starting teaching. The students were taught for a month using rapid reading techniques. Finally, a post-test was administered to determine the students' rapid reading proficiency. Altogether four tests were administered and their scores were compared to each other. The data were analyzed using statistical tools like average, percentage, mean and presented using para orthographical texts viz table diagram. After interpretation and analysis of data, the findings of rapid reading techniques in promoting reading skills at secondary level were enlisted. The thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with general background, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology under which sources of data, sampling procedure, research tools, process of data collection and limitations of the study have been included. Similarly, the third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of data. The fourth chapter consists of the findings and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.References and appendices are attached at the end.Item English Code Mixing In Deuda Songs(Department of English Education, 2011) Malla, Karn BahadurThis Thesis is basically a study of English code mixing in Deuda songs. It aims to analyze the use of English code in Deuda songs. The main objectives of this study are to find out English code mixing in Deuda songs and to analyze English code mixing in terms of major word class, frequency of occurrences of words and context in which code mixing takes place. The primary sources of this study were 50 listeners, singers and songwriters of Deuda songs and the secondary sources of this study were twenty five Deuda songs having English code mixing.The researcher used judgmental/purposive random sampling procedure for collection data. The finding of this work shows that there is a large amount of English code mixing in Deuda songs. Maximum nouns and verbs are mixed in Deuda songs followed by adjectives and adverbs. Regarding contexts, English code mixing in Deuda songs was found in urban context than rural. The study consists of four chapters as follows:Chapter one deals with the general background, review of related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study and the definition of specific terms. Chapter Two deals with the methodology for the study. It includes sources data, population of the study, tools for data collection. Chapter Three deals with the analysis and interpretation of data.The data was analyzed and interrelated using simple statistical tools like frequency and percentage. Chapter Four consists of findings and recommendation of the research.Item Methods and Techniques Used in Teaching English(Department of English Education, 2012) Yadav, Ram NarayanThis research study entitled "Methods and Techniques used in Teaching English"attempted to explore the existing methods and techniques used in Teaching English. To carry out the research,I selected forty secondary level English teachers from twenty secondary schools of Siraha District by using non random purposive sampling. The research was carried out using both primary and secondary sources of data.The data were collected through class observation. Ithas been found that most of the secondary level English teachers used teacher centered methods an techniques in classroom in Siraha District. This thesis consists of four main chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction which consists of general background, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology used to carry out the research,the sources of data, sample population, sampling procedures, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by using simple statistical tools like average, percentage and descriptive approach. The fourth chapter presents the findings derived from the analysis and the interpretation of the data.This also suggests some recommendations on the basis of the findings. The final section of the study includes the references and appendices.Item Preparation and Readiness of Community Schools for Using ICT in Teaching and Learning(Department of Information and Communication Technology, 2018) Ojha, NabrajICT is a recent concept in pedagogical practice. ICT in education is the most crucial aspect of research, where ICT education is a continuous assimilation of knowledge, skill, simulated by synchronous and asynchronous learning. Schools are the building blocks for implementing the policy. To launch a new program in any school, schools should be ready and well prepared. Here my research “Preparation and Readiness of Community Schools for Using ICT in Teaching and learning” will helps to investigate whether our community schools are well prepared or not to lunch ICT program for teaching and learning purpose.. This study is carried out for the analysis of community schools for integrating ICT in teaching and learning at Dadeldhura district. This study was limited to 70 teachers from 14 schools two from each rural municipality and municipality of Dadeldhura district. The research design of this study was Qualitative and Quantitative in nature. The primary source of data was used in this study. Primary sources of data were collected from the school observation and questionnaire collected from different teachers of Dadeldhura district. The collected data were analyzed using percentile method and qualitative data were described in narrative way. The study identify that the schools of Dadeldhura were strongly positive towards the integration of ICT in teaching and learning. Most of the teacher have good knowledge towards the use of ICT tolls and schools have good financial condition for integration of ICT so it can be identify that community school of Dadeldhura were ready and well prepared to integrate ICT in teaching and learning.Item Professional Issues for ELT Novice Teacher(Department of English, 2013) K.C., BandanaThe present study entitled "Professional Issues for ELT Novice Teachers"is an attempt to find out the professional issues of English novice teachers in EFL context in terms of work related, pedagogical and managerial issues. To fulfil the objectives, I prepared a questionnaire to the teachers and 50 questionnaires were distributed to the novice teachers. Only 20 questions were included in the questionnaire. All the questions in the questionnaire were closed ended andrated with five-level rating scale. Only 46 questionnaires were collected from the novice teachers. The novice teachers were from different schools, linguistic background, ethnic groups, and from different schooling. The findings of the study show that all the participants were found to have focused on various issues. The results indicated that novice teachers experienced work-related issue a little more often than pedagogical and managerial issues. Most of the novice teachers usually, sometimes and rarely experienced work related,pedagogical and managerial issues respectively. This was because 50.00% and 34.78% of the total participants always and usually experienced work-related issues and 43.47% and 41.30% of the total participants rarely and never experienced managerial issues as the issues for novice teachers. This thesis has been divided into four main chapters and many sub chapters.The first chapter deals with general background of the study, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study. References and appendices are attached at the end.Item Role of Recasts in Developing Appropriacy and Accuracy in Students' Performance(Department of English, 2013) Chaudhary, BikashThe present study entitled Role of Recasts in Developing Appropriacy and Accuracy in Students' Performance intended to show the effectiveness of recasts in the second language learning especially in simulated English speaking environment. Altogether, 17 students had been selected studying at Marigold Secondary School, Tikapur, Kailali through non-random purposive sampling procedure to accomplish the research. Prior to the intervention, a set of questionnaire was prepared as a research tool to collect required information for the study. The same test item was used for pre-test and post-test. Both primary and secondary sources of data were used. Having prepared the required research tools, I started teaching at the selected school based upon the objectives of the research methodology. The total teaching periods were 25 including all five grammatical items-tense, voice, modal verbs, prepositions and tag-questions respectively and each grammatical item carried 10 marks. The findings showed that recast as an implicit negative feedback can affect students’ attempts to communicate and enhance learning the English language. Thus, recasts proved to be one of the best techniques, especially for those students with higher level of language proficiency. This thesis consists of four parts. The first chapter consists of general background, second language acquisition, classroom interaction, different types of feedback, introduction and theoretical value of recast and process of action research. Chapter two deals with the methodology, sources of data: primary and secondary sources of data, population, sampling population and sampling procedure, tools for the study, the process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three basically deals with the analysis and interpretations of the data collected from the informants. Chapter four discusses the findings of the study. Some recommendations are drawn and some pedagogical implications have been made being based on the findings. In the final section of the study, the references and appendices are included.
