Item International Labour Migration (A Case Study of sisahaniya vdc in Dang District)(Department of population studies, 2008) Newpane, BalukaThis study deals with the“International Labour Migration (ACase Study ofSisahaniya VDC in Dang District)”)in Sishaniya VDC of Dang district. The primarydata was collected from the studyareaof Sishaniya VDC.The general objective ofthe study is to examine the scenario of international labour migration pertaining toSisahaniya VDC of Dang district. The analysis and interpretation of data were carriedout by using frequency tables, cross tabulation, with selected dependent andindependent variables. International labour migration is seen in direction and destination with increasingvolume of Sisahaniya VDC. India has the highest volume and going to increasingtowards Malaysia. For the most part work and wage depends upon the lack ofemigrant’s himself. But emigration’s skill and reliability of manpower have alsoplayed the crucial role for the work and wage. Amount frequency and regularity ofremittances depend upon the types of works, company and destination country.International money express, banks, and western union money transfer are mostlyused channels for sending money. Level of income for emigrant households has increased but expenditure also increasedrespectively. Standard of living and quality of food are raised of their family.Unemployment lack of agricultural land and poverty are important factors foremigration associated with origin. Likewise, high wage rate, easy availability ofunskilled works and no need of higher education other important factors associateddestination. Some positive and negative impacts also seem in foreign employment.Item International Labour Migration in Nepal (A Study of Parroha VDC,Ward No. 1 of Rupandehi District)(Department of Population Studies, 2008) Wagle, DhirendraThe present study has tried to find out the role of international labour migration as a livelihood strategy from the analysis of the households of migrant labourers in Parroha VDC,ward No. 1 of Rupandehi district. The analysis has been done on the basis of data generated from the interview, questionnaire,survey and group discussion as well as from secondary data. The study has revealed unemployment,poverty, lackof opportunity in the home country are the reasons and obligations of labourmigration.Gulf countries followed by East /South-East Asian countries have been the major destination of migrant workers. Mainly the local brokers have organized the foreign employment and most of them have found cheated during the course of migration. The migrant workers have managed the amount difficultly from different sources like selling land and properties, taking loans and borrowing from relatives and friends. Most of the migrant workers are unskilled. Due to the lack of higher education and proper training, they face problem in languages, skills and are compelled to work as unskilled manual workers. Therefore, they have been working abroad in lower wage and salary due to the lesser skills. Bank and Hundi are the major sources to transfer the remittances to their households. To buy essential goods and maintain the house expenses have been the first priorities of using the remittances. Besides, they have invested on education of their children and constructing houses. Therefore, labour migration has resulted in changing the living standard, custom and other activities of the households in the study area.Item International Labour Migration: Causes and Consequences of Nepalese Youth(Department of population studies, 2008) Bhattarai, MinurvaResearch regarding the “International Labour Migration: Causes and Consequences of Nepalese Youths” has been carried out to findout the current situation of Nepalese youths to work as a labour migrants in the foreign countries from the Nepal as well as to evaluate the existing Nepalese government’s policies and programmes related to the regulation and management of foreign employment of migrants labour in Nepal. This study, at the some time has seek to identify the issues and challenges on foreign employment, nature of labour migration trend, it's flow and the number of socio-economic and demographic aspects related to the migration of Nepali migrant workers. Similarly, this study has also evaluated the internationally recognized policies and programmes to protect the rights of the migrant workers. Similarly, qualitative and quantitative information has incorporated to the completion of this study. So the flow, trend analysis of Nepali labour migrants by fiscal year and the concentration of people in different countries in different period of time are also observed. It is found that, migrants workers have faced problems both in the home country and the country of destination, where as the problems in abroad are highlighted very much as compared to the problem that they are being in the national level. Nepalese government polices are not able enough and properly implemented to the regulation and management of foreign labour migration. At the some time Nepalese government is not found sincere to the implication of international provisions to protect the rights of the migrant workers. Government mechanisms are not found very much effective to assure safe migration of potential labour migrants. Last but not the least, the study has concluded that the foreign labour migration can be regulated with the proper implementation of government policies and programmes to sustain the migrant labour market.
