Item Classroom activities of novice English language teachers(Department of English Education, 2023) Badu, PushpaThe present research study entitled "Classroom Activities of Novice English Language Teachers" was carried out to analyze the classroom activities used by Novice English language teachers. This was a survey research. The population of the study include Novice English language teachers of primary and secondary school of darchula district. I purposively selected Twelve teachers who have not crossed two years of real teaching experience from six different schools through non random sampling procedure. Observation checklist were the main tools that were used to collect tha data. The data were analyzed and interpreted using statical tools such as table bar digram and percentage. The finding of the present study demonstrate that the most of the novice English language teachers classroom activities. It was found that novice English language teacher less preparation regarding the initiation of the lesion. The novice teahers mostly concentrated only on the subject matters. More used the lecture method. The teacher less preparation of instructional materaials and repetation of the same words of phrases. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with general background, statement of the problem, objectives, and delimitations of the study, significance of the study, and operational definitions of the key terms. The second chapter consists of review of both theoretical and empirical literature with a conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with methodology containing design of the study, sources of data collection, population and sampling of the study, sampling procedures, tools for data collection, and data analysis and interpretation procedure. Results and a discussion of the data are included in the fourth chapter. The study's summary, conclusion, and consequences are covered in the fifth chapter. Reference and appendix are included at the end of the study.Item Novice Teachers' practices in ELT Classroom(Department of English Education, 2016) Adhikari, Om PrakashThis research entitled Novice Teachers' Practices in ELT Classroom is an attempt to find out the classroom practices of novice teachers to teach English skill. This study followed survey design. Five teachers of secondary level school and thirty students of the same level were sampled by purposive non random sampling procedure. I used both questionnaire and classroom observation checklist as tools to collect the data. Most of the novice teachers were found to be satisfactory in terms of entering behavior and evaluative behavior. However, they were not found to be satisfactory in terms of instructional behavior. Moreover, the students viewed that their teachers used lesson plan in the classroom but they rarely used teaching material in the classroom. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the topic which includes background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research question, significance of the study, delimitations of the study, and operational definition of the key terms. The second chapter covers review of the theoretical literature, review of empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with the methods and procedure of the study, which includes design of the study, study area, population, sample and sampling strategies, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedures and data analysis and interpretation procedures. Likewise, the fourth chapter presents analysis and interpretation of the results and summary of findings. Fifth chapter deals with conclusions and recommendations followed by references and appendices.Item Working conditions of novice English teachers in the initial year of teaching(Department of English Education, 2019) Gurung, BinitaThis study entitled Working Conditions of Novice English Teachers in the Initial Year of Teaching intended to analyze the working conditions of novice teachers in the initial year of teaching and to explore the expectations of the novice teachers from the schools, principal, teaching staffs as well as students. A qualitative research design was used in this study. This study is based on narrative research design. In order to collect data, in-depth interview and classroom observation were usedas research tools. The participants of the study were secondary level five novice English teachers of Kathmandu district who have around two years of experiences. The findings of the study showed that novice teachers faced various problems in the initial phases like classroom management problems, content knowledge problem, unsatisfactory salary, lack of collegiality, unsupportive principal and administration, disruptive behaviour of students, heavy work load, low job satisfaction etc. Similarly, before involving teaching profession novice teachers expected different things such as cooperative environment, disciplined students and career enhancement. The present study consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the studyalong with background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, the second chapter contains the review of related literature and conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter includes with methods and procedures of the study, design of the study, population and sample, sampling strategies, data collection tools, data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation procedures and ethical considerations. The forth chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the result and the fifth chapter consists of the findings, conclusion and recommendations. The last section of this research includes the references and appendices.
