It is in the meantime the study life focusing on her traumatic events. It is an attempt to investigate how Holly’s life goes forward without her husband and how it causes an ultimate confusion about her identity, forcing her to live the life in frustration and loneliness. Badly wounded characters' psychology infects rest of their life. Protagonist 'I' undergoes a great thunderbolt on his life which degeneratespsychosis on him. Throughout his life he longs for his dead friend's arrival. A sixth grader Dhaniya tries to comfort herself by writing poems with the themes of war,suffocation, bloodshed, enmity. She intends to transform her grief into power by writingand telling the verses to her friends and exposing her inner frustration through verses in various competitions. She is living her life that her kidnapped father would return one day. Similarly, another character Salil is isolated due to her sister's marriage. The nostalgia of the time he passed with her sister leads him towards trauma. He starts passing his sleepless nights. Salil's expectation without his sister comes to be false. He could not get amusement without his sister and intends to visit her house and beg sorry for his misdeeds.In this way characters in this anthology try to cope up with their lives.They areable to distinguish between past and present.In other words, in post-traumatic working through one critically engages trauma by creating acertain distance between the past and the present and is not totally lost in the past. Itrather faces the present and engages the past trauma for the betterment in the future as in stories Salil and Dhaniya adopt living strategy remembering the past events for their better future endeavors.Item Psychological Trauma in Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie(Department of English, 2010) Timsina, Dhanya PrasadIn Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom's central character,Morrie Schwartz faces a fatal disease a myotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS). The author of the novel,in the form of narrator undergoes a great psychological trauma caused by the death of the professor, Morrie Schwartz. Mitch Albom depicts the reality of his traumatized psyche about his professor to reduce the effect of the shock.The author wants to heal the pain of the demise of his professor which here counts in the novel.In this memoir,he recollects the memoirs from Brandies University to the funeral possession of the professor with various flashbacks.When we delve into the text, it is an autobiographical novel of Morrie Schwartz.The author presents this memoir what he discusses with his professor as a narrator. They have discussed about the meanings of life.Every part of life becomes the topic of their discussions.Every subject matter of the conversations is experienced by the central character, Morrie.By the cause of the disease, he has to lose his professor and he gets great psychological shock.Therefore the shock of the author is narrativized in this novel to heal his psychological trauma.Item Sexual Assault as the Cause of Trauma in V. Llosa's The Feast of the Goat(Department of English, 2013) Lohar, Jag RamMario Vargas Llosa'sThe Feast of the Goatattempts to depict the cruel and brutal dictatorship of the ruler which creates trauma in the mind of people. The protagonist of the novel, Urania Cabral who was forced to leave the country is the real victim of trauma. She, due to sexual assault on her, left the country and lived the life of exile thereafter. Especially, this sexual assault was caused because of her father's greed for the political post. Llosa, in the text, tries to picturize how Urania gets traumatized and how she seeks a medium togetrid of it. During her exile, she always gets haunted by the memory of past terrible events, evidences of which can be found in her own narration. The memory of the past events,i.e. sexual attack on her leads her to depart from the country and traumatization.
