The growth has always bypassed the rural poor. Poverty has also been an underlying theme of Nepalese Development efforts since long before. After the Ninth Hall (1997-2002) it has become sole development objective. It is approval that successful poverty alleviation calls for empowerment of people, good governance and peoples participation especially through decision molting level. Social mobilization aims in bringing about broader involvement of people in decision-making and to empower the renal communities socially and economically. Godamchaur is also a village of Nepal, which is suffering from various forms of poverty. In this village many GOs and NGOs are conducting different types of programs with the aim of poverty alleviation. Among them four programs are working with the approach of Social Mobilization. Two of the programs are government related organization and the remaining two are related with NGOs. This study is an attempt to review different aspects of these programs regarding their aim. The study, was mainly targeted to find out the strengths weaknesses and shortcomings of the programs and Men to suggest recommendations aimed improving the implementation and impacts of the, program. The research has been mainly designed with explorative and descriptive approach. Key informants from various sources were consulted and interviewed. In depth study of available and related literature was dome mid a representative sample size of 65 was selected using simple stratified random sampling techniques from members of various Community Organizations formed by the programs. Both primary as well as secondary sources of information were used fire the analysis. The first chapter of this dissertation deals wish conceptual background of Social Mobilization and poverty in Nepal along with the objectives, limitations and rationale of the study. The second chapter has reviewed various literatures related with this issue. The third chapter is on the methodology used for this research. The fourth chapter has given some of the key features and history of social mobilization in brief as an approach of poverty alleviation in Nepal. The fifth chapter introduces the study area. The sixth chapter encompasses the findings and analysis done in the research. The findings have been presented in understandable form as for as possible. Various constraints regarding the implementation of the social mobilization in the study area has been analyzed in the chapter. The seventh chapter concludes these research findings and provides some recommendations regarding implementation of the program along with some suggestions for further researches. Social mobilization lilts generated optimism that poor communities can be activates to manage their oven development problems to a significant level if giver: a proper mechanism of authority to them. This has again conformed that people can be imitate but not irrational. Organization of groups at the settlement level has taken the practice of social mobilization to a deeper level, which could be et supportive factor in ensuring sustainability of the program. Social mobilization in many cases has been successful in uniting people of different. Background and also in building level of confidence in women and dalits of the village. Despite the achievements, there is a need more concern on issues of education, health and building of social infrastructure. More opportunities of training, should be provided to the people. Level of coordination between different social mobilizing agencies need to be improved and a proper system of monitoring and evaluation has become important in calculating the cost-effectiveness of the programs. In order to reduce the risk of discontinuation of the program, priority should he on use of local resources not mere dependency on external grants. This program is helpful for rural development specially for poverty alleviation. VDP was implemented in 23 VDCs in Parbat District during 1996. No research has been done by anybody about in Parbat District. So, this research has been conducted with various objectives. The main objective of the study is (a) to evaluation the effectiveness of social mobilization in institutional development at grass-root level and self-governance. The specific objectives are as follows: •To study the process of social mobilization. •To identify the achievement on institutional development. •To identify the achievement on economic development. Primary data has been collected by sampling techniques. Questionnaire, field survey,interview are used as tools of data collection. Secondary data has been collected from books, booklets, bulletin, news paper, magazine and other other published and unpublished. There are 12 community Organization formulated under Village Development Program. Among those community organizations, 308 households are included. Those people are interested to join CO for purpose of taking loan, skill development, to be self dependent and social feeling. VDP focuses on income generating activities,skillful training, education and awareness building. People’s life status is increasing gradually after Village Development Program. They have been free from high rate interest of local money lenders. CO member collect certain amount money and invest on various purposes among themselves. The most effective projects under Village Development Program are seed Grant and Credit Capital. VDP has given priority in drinking water, school construction, and irrigation by seed Grand Project CO members people have been benefited by Credit iv Capital Project. Credit Capital is invested on vegetable farming, goal rearing, poultryfarming and business. Various types of trainings have been provided by VDP to CO members. About 177CO members are benefited by skill trainings. From this study, it can be identified that female, Dalit and disadvantaged groups(DAGs) who are target groups of this program are found benefited. Also the rate of people’s participation has been increased. People’s perception toward VDP has been found positive. Its positive impacts have seen in social, economic, educational, health and sanitation sector. Caste and gender discrimination have been minimized.Item Socio-Economic Impact of Poverty Alleviation Fund Programme (A Study of Sunarpani VDC, Ramechhap District)(Department of Rural Development, 2009) Thing, Kamal BahadurNepal is known as one of the poorest country. More than 49% of people are below the poverty line. For eradication of poverty different kinds of programme have been implemented. Before knowing the definition of development it is important to know the history of development. The history of planned development in Nepal goes back to 1950s. Tribhuvan Gram Bikash was established for this purpose in 1952. The concept of community development slowly emerged in our society. Shrestha defines community development as socially a village self help programme, in which people themselves, through their own village leaders, organizations and institutions are to have the opportunity of working together to improve all aspects of village life. The central and the state government are only to assist the progress. Poverty is a multi-dimensional and complex problem. The causes of poverty by analyzing different aspects of income and human poverty are not only economic but also social and technological backwardness too. One of the main causes of poverty is low economic growth rate. The stock taking of economic achievement of last three decades shows a lower economic growth rate of approximately 4 percent while annual population growth rate was about 2.5 percent. The per capita income growth rate at a very low level could not contribute to mitigate poverty significantly. This research is done in the contemporary issue related to the PAF. Impact of PAF programme in Sunarpani VDC, of Ramechhap District. In various parts of the country PAF has been working as a close partnership for the local peoples. It is trying to develop the disadvantage, disable, women, Janajati empowerment, income generation, social mobilization and capacity building. This study focuses in the developmental process, affecting factors relation to socio-cultural activities done by PAF in Sunarpani VDC. The main objectives of this study were to know the impact of PAF in local development process. However, other specific objectives are; To analyze the socio-economic condition of Sunarpani VDC, Ramechhap district people. To find out the impact of PAF in study area. To know the socio-cultural change in study area. On the process of study out of 471 HHs only only 50 HHs were selected with purposive sampling. At the end of the research it was found that PAF is the main heart of the rural area which was seen in Sunarpani VDC. PAF and its role in local development process are going increased in the study area. The following developmental activities had done by PAF in the local level. Self dependent for Disable, women and marginalized people, Transportation and Communication facilities, It ended the selfishness, It provided the awareness for local poor, Roads for transport, It had supported the alternative energy PAF made various schools, Changed the traditional agriculture irrigation system, Helped to establish Poultry form, Forest management and capacity development, Drinking water, Entrepreneur Loan / Agriculture Loan, Participation and social-mobilization, Livestock farming etc respectively. The main objective of the study is to examine General objectives of the study are to assess the overall performance of Social Mobilization Program by SNV/Nepal /DDC/VDC in Suvang VDC, Panchthar. However the specified objectives of the study are:To examine the socio-economic impact of Social Mobilization Program,To assess the sustainability of SNV/DDC/VDC program at the local level.,o draw conclusion about effective management of the program.,The study has been organized into six chapters, each devoted to some aspects of Social Mobilization Program in Suvang Village Development Committee. The titles of each of these chapters are as follows: 1. Chapter-one: Introduction 2. Chapter-two: Literature review 3. Chapter-three: Method of study 4. Chapter-four: Physical and socio-economic status of study area. 5. Chapter-five: Data presentation and Analysis 6. Chapter-six: Summary, conclusions and recommendations in this research The study was undertaken in the absence of benchmark data for the program, and hence the finding of the study reports are based on the following methodology adopted for the study. Population from which sample was drawn for this study included all wards of Suvang VDC. At first, it was decided to carry out purposive sampling of 42 percent of 43 groups, each two from a ward, totaling 18 groups. Again, each group from every ward includes a women group. The next step consisted of random sampling while selecting groups and respondent beneficiaries. The final stage comprised random selection of three household members from each 18 groups thereby making a total sample size of 54 beneficiaries The program's overall performance has been satisfactory. The strategic approach for its implementation has provided a unique opportunity and valuable vehicles for increased participation in development planning and management. Progress has been made in reducing poverty. Women have been empowered, and they are taking lead in community development and micro enterprises social issues such as child labor, child marriages, violence in community and alcoholism have been addressed through social mobilizationItem A Study on the Energizing Social Mobilization of Women Through Aama Samuha:Mothers’ Group: A Case Study of Jante Vdc, Morang District, Nepal(Department of Rural Development, 2017) Pokhrel, BabitaMothers’ Group (MG), initiated by Gurung women as a self-help organization in the past,has become a popular women organization all over the country for women development.Mothers’ Groups are recognized as a non-political group which has played a significantrole for the empowerment and mobilization of women at grassroots. The study has madean effort to assess the role of such groups for social mobilization of women for theirempowerment and mobilization. The study includes three MGs of Jante VDC of Morangdistrict. The data were collected from the executive members of the MGs, and other 15males and 20 females of the community. The study shows that MGs have prioritized thesocial awareness raising of local mothers on child care, primary health care, nutrition,sanitation and cleaning-up programs, and family planning. All MGs were led by FemaleCommunity Health Volunteers (FCHVs). The MGs have focused on collecting utensils, cleaning trails, financial support to Schooletc. instead of sorting out the ways to empower themselves to enhance their capability.Induced MGs were facing various problems because of lack of creative and innovativeprograms, confinement within health-related matters only, and incompatibility to laterintroduced women organizations with reference to socio-economic uplift of the members. Further, low level of education, lack of organizational skills, management skills, creativethought on mothers, proper guidance from the social leaders, support from otherorganizations, group consensusamong members and limited sources of fund as well asinternal disputes among MG members etc. have been found as the main challenges ofMGs. The study on roles of MGs in women’s empowerment and mobilization in grassrootsneeds further study with wider coverage of sample size with reference to larger number ofinformants and MGs from different areas of Nepal to find out the actual role of it.Comparative research on various methods of social mobilization would also contribute tofurther undersJanteng the contribution of social mobilization to social inclusion in Nepal.
