    CENTRE FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023) GUPTA, DIKSHYA
Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disability caused due to differences in the brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. People with ASD may also have different ways of learning, moving, or paying attention. The cases of autism spectrum disorder are increasing at an exponential rate. In April 2018, the CDC reported that 1 in 59 children in the US had a diagnosis of autism. The current study, however, updates this figure and estimates that roughly 1 in 40 children in the US have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1 in 160 children worldwide has ASD. According to a report by the Autism Care Nepal Society, about 300,000 children suffer from autism in Nepal. Awareness about autism is very scarce and next to nonexistent in most parts of the nation. ASD affects the way people communicate, behave, or interact with others, and generally, these symptoms manifest at the young age of 12 months to 2 years. In lack of awareness and diagnosis of ASD these young children when in need of more attention and help are shunned and isolated from the community. There is a very limited number of NGOs working for the welfare and rehabilitation of children with autism, which are not properly designed. The focus is given only on the therapies and skill development while the environmental factors are considered to be neglected. The study will explore the physical and psychological needs of children with autism.

    आधार:AN OPPORTUNITY CENTER FOR WOMEN
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) BAN, YURIKA
This report presents a thesis on the topic of "Aadhar: An Opportunity Center for Women", which aims to uplift Indigenous women in Nepal. The Chepang community has been selected as the focus of the study and survey. The project named "Aadhar" aims to provide a platform for women who require empowerment and are severely underrepresented. It seeks to create opportunities for them and help uplift their status, enabling them to understand their own identity. Nepal is a nation that exhibits promise for advancement, although it does not exist without social disparities. While a certain segment enjoys ample prospects, there are those who are situated beneath the poverty threshold. Likewise, while a particular group of individuals possesses the means to access fundamental human rights, nation’s priorities, justice, and amenities, there are others who are dispersed and in search of a livelihood. It is a pronounced gender stereotype and societal concern that continues to pervade numerous communities, despite remaining unacknowledged and underreported. Thus, Gender being one of the factors representing the social disparities in our society, with a highly marginalized ethnic group ‘Chepang’ being another factor reflecting the need of upliftment and opportunities, holds together the overall objectives of the thesis project.

    ARCHITECTURAL MUSEUM:“Centre for Architecture enthusiasts”
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) THAPALIYA, SHIVARAM
Although Architecture has a lot of impact on the daily life of people, it is not celebrated widely here in Nepal. Architecture is not only the design of a building, it’s a lot more than that. There’s a huge gap between the architecture fraternity and the common people. People are not aware how architecture is shaping their day to day life and how important architecture is for the humans. So,this project Architectural Museum: Center for architecture enthusiasts is envisaged to be an innotative and compelling center of architecture which aims to bridge the gap between architecture and the people by experiencing and seeing different forms of architecture and the supporting features. This thesis presents the design and implementation of an architectural museum, which serves as a destination for architecture and design enthusiasts to learn, engage, and be inspired. The museum is organized into several galleries, each with its own unique theme and focus, including contemporary, past, and future architecture, art, product design, and more. The museum also features outdoor areas, including a public plaza, exhibition space, and a play area for children. The thesis outlines the design process, including the conceptualization, planning, and execution of the museum, as well as the materials and technologies used in its construction. The report also details the visitor experience, including the circulation within the museum, as well as the various exhibits and galleries. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the key findings and outcomes of the project, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the museum design and implementation.

    RETHINKING PUBLIC LIBRARY
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) KHADKA, LAWRISHA
Library and information science have been part of society from the beginning of their existence. The importance of information seeking has been increasing with time, and information has been a key component in this competition. Library existed before the invention of books, now in modern times, the world is shifting toward a new era of learning which is digitalization, today’s library needs to incorporate those things. Recognizing the condition of libraries in Nepal, it suggests a shift away from 'collection' to 'connection'. The library now requires a spatial configuration that can combine multiple functions, combining library space with other components such as maker spaces, galleries, and performance spaces. In doing so, the library is now rethought and reimagined to make the center active on a regular basis, hosting unique events while staying relevant and useful for the daily use of the residents nearby. Offering supplementary open spaces alongside specialized program facilities community engagement and the making of a vibrant public realm.

जलजीवालय: FRESHWATER AQUARIUM AND RESEARCH CENTER
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) KADEL, AVISHEK
A good research center design requires good research center knowledge. Knowledge about the various requirements of a research center makes a complete research center which is functionally, aesthetically, and structurally sound. Freshwater Aquarium and Research Center is a project completely devoted to the study and exhibition of aquatic plants and animals from the various strata, as well as from other sources of water in an interesting and informative manner with the motives of entertaining and educating the visitors. Freshwater Aquarium and Research Center would help better our knowledge of the aquatic plants and animals and about their life. The behavior and ways of the animals being held captive can be studied without going out in the actual environment. This is especially vital in today’s world where a number of wild aquatic animals are becoming extinct.

URBAN AGRICULTURE CENTRE: AN INTEGRATED SPACE FOR URBAN FARMING, RESEARCH AND INTERACTION
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) Awal, Salina
Agriculture is an important key to human development. The social relation between human and agriculture, that was developed from initial phase of human development, is getting weaker. Everything around us has changed a lot including available natural resources, technological advancements, climatic conditions, population density and their demands. But, agriculture hasn't changed much in thousands of years. We are still going above acres of crop land, far from the people who eat it. In Kathmandu valley, urban and peri-urban agriculture have been practiced from ancient time and is traditional way of life. Like many cities in the world, Kathmandu is pushing the agriculture and nature away from settlement. The current unsustainable system of agriculture including massive amount of food imports and malpractice of chemicals in food production have created severe threats to health, environment and economy of the valley. It is no longer economically viable because of population growth, crop failures, urbanization, and dealing with a changing external environment. Building a farm and a research unit close to the people it serves is the only option to deliver a sustainable approach to food crises and food security in the future. Considering drastic decrease in the available farm land and current demand of food, the better alternative to prevailing tradition system of agriculture can be vertical farming, indoor high-tech farming and roof farming. Promoting and extending the urban agriculture in the city through adoption of vertical farming is the major aim of the project. The project will also contribute to strengthen intricate relation between agriculture and people. The concept is to design a hi-tech urban farm and necessary research and training units for the urban farm that provides theoretical and practical knowledge about various growing technologies of urban farming, along with the fresh, healthy and disease-free fruits and vegetables grown in the farm to people of the city. Therefore, the project emphasizes symbiosis of agriculture and architecture through modern agricultural systems to reconnect people with nature and solve major issues of food crisis at the same time.

    MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) DHOJU, MANISH
The contemporary art of Nepal is becoming more visible on the international stage. Western-influenced Nepali artists have been addressing a variety of current themes with modern styles. A medium for communication or a way to shape an experience, art is more than that. Due to the increasing globalization, there are relatively few opportunities for Nepali artists to explore and show their work to the local community. The Museum of Contemporary Arts is envisioned as a captivating hub for contemporary art where the public may engage with the works and concepts of active artists and comprehend the cultural, social, and historical context of contemporary art.

Nepal comprises only 0.1% of the land area in a global scale but is endowed with disproportionately rich diversity of flora and fauna; heart seizing scenic beauty; diverse culture; ethnic etiquettes. Nepal’s diverse and magnificent environment along with the country’s hospitable and pleasant people has made her one of the major tourist destinations and variation in culture, tradition, built forms, and socio-economic pattern is a uniqueness of Nepal. MITHILA ARTS AND CULTURE CENTER
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) SHAH, MEGHA
Ethnicity of the people is determined by the culture of the region. Nepal is a small country with a diverse geography, society and culture. Maithili is an ethnic minority with rich culture, arts, language and architecture style. Architecture is the relationship between settlement pattern, house shape, size and orientation, material and technology which responds to the climatic, geographical, cultural and social norms of society. The Mithila Art and Culture Center is proposed for Janakpur to conserve and advance art, culture, and tradition. It focuses on the Mithila of Dhanushadham, which is rapidly vanishing due to the spread of contemporary concepts and amenities. The project will offer performances, craft demonstrations, product sales, exhibition halls, galleries, libraries, auditoriums, outdoor theaters, areas for product presentation and sales, cafeterias, lodging buildings, museums, and art studios. The primary goal is to develop a variety of collections, such as intriguing places, to satisfy its diverse requirements and establish it as the district's first center.

    Swawolambi: SCHOOL FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) SHAKYA, SHRAWAK
For years, architectural theorists and architects have been discerning how architecture is perceived and what sets good architecture apart from the rest. With the increase in demand for an inclusive society, these questions are to be raised about universal design and the concept of universal design. The field of architecture is open to all. While designing, no one should be left alone. For those who lack the proper vision to analyze architecture, the same cannot be said. They may not be able to see the architecture, but they can definitely feel it. Every architect should take into account the needs of people who are visually impaired. Any impairment should not prevent someone from appreciating the architecture. The report looks in depth into the introduction to "Visual Impairment", their needs and problems, multisensory experience, non-visual perception, design guidelines and lighting requirements, material perception, and how they perceive the surroundings in urban and individual contexts based on the case studies and literature reviewed. What kinds of visually impaired people exist? What distinguishes them from people who can see architecture? What needs to be done to feel like architecture meets, and how do they perceive it? Even though inclusiveness in design is encouraged by architecture for the blind, it is rarely discussed or used in the final product.

    GRUHAM: LIVING FOR THE ELDERLY
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) KARN, SHIVANI
Aging is a natural part of the human life cycle. Nobody can escape becoming old if they live a long life. People gain experiences and wisdom at the price of their age. We might think of an aged person as book rich with life wisdom. The entire globe is currently experiencing global aging. The population of older citizens over the age of 60 is expected to double in the next ten years. Old people’s homes are socio-cultural institutions having economic, psychological, and spiritual components. The care of a society's older citizens has been a societal priority since ancient times. To achieve such social ideals, society has established rules such as "we must respect the elderly and love the juniors." furthermore, society accepts it because everyone will become old one day. However, in practice, values might conflict owing to numerous socioeconomic conditions, between individuals and society, and between generations. This difference in values is what makes older citizens a concern and their care a difficulty. As a result, the greatest choice is to support and create an atmosphere conducive to the formation of elderly homes at the community level. This study demonstrates the lack of older persons in public discussions concerning

    THERAPEUTIC CENTER
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) DANUWAR, NEHA RAI
Therapeutic Center: Rehabilitation for the Women Involved in Substance abuse is a woman-only treatment center mainly focusing on the creation of a healing environment solely focused on women who by choice or by force are involved in substance abuse. At present, there are more than 8000 female drug abusers as per the recent survey and the number might not be true as many females are pressurized into not accepting the usage of drugs by the family to avoid the stigma and shame. A rehabilitation inner and outer space provides them with the means of understanding what went wrong and how to work-through the group towards building their own strength to surpass physical and psychological obstacles on the road to recovery and active inclusion. Drug Addiction has been a growing problem worldwide, the report shows that this year also the addiction rate has increased more in than previous years making it the highest to date. Rehabilitation centers only provide support to the addicts but also help them rehabilitate and be self-employed. It will also give an opportunity to raise awareness among the public through various community-based programs and events. Drug rehabilitation centers from the past and present in many ways.

HEALING AND EMPOWERMENT CENTER FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-05) POKHAREL, SAYESTA
The journey to recovery doesn't end when a battered woman enters a shelter; it only begins. Even after finding safety, one of the main reasons a woman can go back to her abuser is her fear of change. The repeated cycles of abuse become a way of life and even positive transition can feel Moving on from her personal life and, if she has dependent children, her new life at the shelter can appear more terrifying than her previous perilous circumstances. Unlike for other women, for a battered woman, her relationship with the word “home” is triggering- her sense of belonging having been eroded by her abuser. A shelter must be much more than just a space with a closed door. The area should support the person in regaining their dignity and feeling of self. It should heal and empower at the same time- the absence of any one can mean Designers must put a strong emphasis on facilitating this shift when developing environments that provide survivors with a fresh start, all the while making sure that the transition between different environments is comfortable enough to welcome her to the facility but push her to just the right extent, to pursue her path to recovery.

PROGRESSION OF CIVIC SPACE: LIBRARY WITH COWORKING SPACES
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) SHARMA, SUPRIYA
People visit libraries not only to read and borrow books, but also to gather, share information, and connect with others who share their interests. The library has changed from “collection to connection” and has evolved into a social hub for citizens. Modern libraries now combine traditional functions along with new functions which cater to society’s needs and keep the library relevant or active in the present era. This project proposes a new typology for a public space- library with coworking spaces. In doing so, it reimagines the library as an extended place that incorporates several services and serves as a vibrant public space that is accessible to all, rather than as the "definitive repository of knowledge." Therefore, the idea expresses the role of architectural intervention in revival of public library to transform the institution and make it relevant for the everyday usage of the nearby residents.

VISUAL ARTS CENTER: Inclusive of Art Therapy
(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2023-04) GURUNG, PRATIMA
Art, in its broadest sense, is a form of communication. It is an expression of one’s skills and imagination that provide aesthetic pleasure to the readers, viewers and audience. Art is not just a subject of visual pleasure but is a medium of self-expression, cultural identity, economic contributor and psychological healer that rigidly bind people to the confinement of rational consciousness. An art center is a functional community facility with the explicit goal of promoting art practice by offering relevant amenities. However, despite the fact that formal art education has existed since 1934 and that government and private art galleries have been established in significant numbers, no institution currently offers a comprehensive community for art. Despite the creation of numerous institutes for art education and galleries, Nepal is still unaware of the potent effects of art as a form of healing. In addition, Nepal's lack of an architectural identity is one of the obstacles, and the absence of public involvement with art is one of the biggest issues. The suggested art center will give students, professionals, and the general public a platform to take a hard look at art practices creatively, academically, economically, as well as psychologically. Taking all these issues into consideration and using architecture as my study focus, it will address them. The proposed visual art center will also focus on building interaction between art and public through public art exhibitions.
