Abstract: This writing discusses on "Status of Dalit women in Local Politics: A case study of Tilottama municipality". This study is a part of Tillotama Municipality,Rupandehi District. In Nepal, 2017 was a historical achievement for Dalit women,because the Local Level Election Act 2017 opened the door to participation at the local level through election as a ward member. This Act stipulated that at least one of the four members of each ward committee should be a woman from the Dalit community. So, local elections have finally provided an opportunity for Dalit women to become leaders in their own society and community. Dalit women havea big opportunity for political participation and election. In the Nepali context,Dalit women are historically marginalized and are facing discrimination in name of caste, gender, and religion for centuries. They lack good opportunities like education, health, property rights, gender equality, and political participation. Both primary and secondary information have used in the analysis. The primary data have collected interviews with respondents. Interview and observation and secondary data are prior researches, personal records, and official documents. The analysis data are interpreted within the Inter sectionality perspective. Dalit the community are historical victimized and disadvantaged groups of Nepal.Dalit has many problems facing in the state through several kinds of ways. Their socio-political, educational, economic status is very desperate as compared to other caste groups. In the past time, our laws and rules based on Hindu scriptures have played an important role in making Dalit people miserable and out from politics to ethnicity on an ethnic basis.
