Abstract: The present research study entitled A Study on Writing Proficiency: A Comparison of B.A.and B.Ed.Students was carried out to find out the his study looks in to the content, organization of information,grammar, proper use of mechanics of writing,cohesion and coherence in holistic way.To carry out the research, the researcher selected one campus of Nawalparasi district by using non-random judgmental sampling procedure and thirty students (fifteen from B.A.and fifteen from B.Ed.level2 vii nd year) by using simple random sampling procedure. The research was carried out by using both primary and secondary sources of data. A set of test items consisting of story writing, letter writing and essay writing were the tools for data collection. The data were analyzed and interpreted based on the data in accordance with the set of objectives. The findings of this research show that the total free writing proficiency of the students was poor. The students of B.Ed.level2 year were found to be more proficient in writing than the students of B.A.level2 year.Similarly, the students are more proficient in letter writing and less proficient in essay writing. This thesis comprises five main chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction, which consists of general background, statements of problem,objectives of the study, research question,significance of the study,delimitation of the study and defining operational key terms. The second chapter deals with the review of related literature and conceptual framework,which consists review of related theoretical literature, review of empirical literature,implication of review for the study and conceptual framework of the research. The third chapter deals with methods and procedures of the study,which consists of design and method of the study, research area or field,population sample and sampling strategy, data collection tools and techniques of the study, data collection procedures, and data analysis and interpretation procedure.The fourth chapters deal with analysis and interpretation of result nd nd and summary of the finding. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by using simple statistical tools like average, percentage and descriptive approach. The fifth chapter presents conclusion and provides recommendations of the study in term of policy level, practice level,and further research.The final part of the study consists of references and appendices.
